Double Feature: Mrs Ike & Distant Camelot – First Ladies Trilogy Performance
March 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
$20Coffeehouse Opens 6:00pm / Performance 7:00pm
Kay Sebring-Roberts Kuhlmann, the playwright, returns in “Mrs. Ike,” portraying first lady Mamie Doud Eisenhower. Just as the 1950s ushered in a hopeful era of post-war prosperity, Mamie brought a soft touch to the Eisenhower image. Now, the stage character reveals what life was like living with a famous General who bootstrapped a small-town Midwestern youth into a military career that started small, then helped save the world and took him to the White House. One hour, followed by 20-minute intermission.
Lacey Korb stars as Jackie Kennedy in Kay’s script of “Distant Camelot.” The audience meets the former first lady in 1994, as the “world’s most famous woman” begins her final journey. Jackie looks back on the triumphs and challenges of her special place in U.S. cultural history. One hour.
