Made By Hand: How Craft Shapes the Maker

Created by Taliesen Nyala

Opening Reception
Sunday / May 3 / 1:00pm–4:30pm

Seven Sundays event featuring music by mine mine from 3:00pm–4:30pm

Exhibit Dates: May 3–June 14

Woodworker, writer, and artist Taliesin Nyala created this exhibition based on years of experience as a craft maker. She is a fiscal year 2026 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Made by Hand: How Craft Shapes the Maker takes participants behind the scenes and explores many aspects of the creative, craft-making process. Created by woodworker Taliesin Nyala, Made by Hand features the work of four outstanding southeastern Minnesota artisans: Lindsay Krage of Salome Acres (fiber arts), Zak Fellman of HRVNT (printmaking), Teresa Schumaker of Schumaker Pottery (ceramics), and Megan McCarthy (woodworking). Each offers deep insight into their own work and the benefits they receive from that work beyond just the end products they create.

This event marks the fourth Sunday of Seven Sundays at WAC, with a live musical performance by mine mine from 3pm–4:30pm.

ABOUT mine mine
Musicians mine mine have been waiting to happen for the past decade. After meeting in Winona in 2010, Ross, Kelly, and Jack lived all over the country before coming to reside in the Twin Cities concurrently at the end of 2025. This program offers a dynamic mix of instrumental cover arrangements which showcase technical breadth and musical personality. Listeners will hear music ranging from the folk of Bob Dylan to the jazz of Keith Jarrett to the R&B of Janet Jackson all reimagined for a chamber trio of pedal steel, guitar and acoustic bass.

Seven Sundays is an arts and music series during 2026 where a musical performance will be paired with each newly hung visual art exhibit. All seven events are free.
