Frozen River Film Festival at the WAC

On Monday and Tuesday of the festival, four films will be presented at the WAC as part of the 2022 Frozen River Film Festival. Visit frff.org to learn more about the full festival, which runs from February 6-13, 2022. A pass or ticket from FRFF is required for entry. Purchase at frff.org/attend or visit the FRFF office at 164 E 3rd St in Winona. The office is open from 10am to 4 pm on Monday through Thursday.
The WAC coffeehouse will be open between films. Please review our Covid-19 Protocol before planning your visit to the Winona Arts Center. We appreciate your understanding.
Boneyard Alaska

Beneath the ever-frozen ground of Alaska lie the bones of Ice Age creatures that roamed this region tens of thousands of years ago: bison, woolly mammoths and prehistoric bears. The bones are now being unearthed by an Alaskan gold miner named John Reeves and discoveries are made before our very eyes, potentially re-writing the history of North America.

Inventor, entrepreneur and engineer Bernie Karl runs Chena Hot Springs Resort in Alaska year-round on 100% geothermal power. While some of his innovations hold promise for sustainable living, others—like his ice museum and airplane on stilts—are just weird.
Never Had a Bad Day follows him as he prepares for his annual Energy Fair, a symposium that attracts high-level politicians, high-power academics and hundreds of guests. Along the way, we learn how Bernie’s brothers inspire him, how he came to live in Alaska, and how he developed his belief that literally anything is possible if you work hard enough.
