SUMMARY:Puppet Making Classes with Dr. Bob
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays / June 14 or 28\, July 12 or 26 / 12:00-3:00 pm\nDr. Bob is offering free puppet making classes for individuals ages 9 through 18 at the Winona Arts Center. Parents are encouraged to join the class and participate in their child’s creation. We will be using a simple template to build a rod style puppet. All materials are provided. There will be four separate sessions\, students only need to sign up for one session. Classes are on June 14 or 28\, July 12 or 26 and each session runs from noon to 3pm. \nSpace is limited to 12 students per class so please reserve your spot through email goblinpony@yahoo.com or through Facebook messenger Doctor Bob’s Puppets. \nThis activity is made possible through a grant from the Southeastern MN Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

SUMMARY:Tile Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday / July 16 / 1:00-3:00 pm\nRichard Spiller\, a local potter from Wisconsin will present a tile- making workshop at the Winona Arts Center. The technique is called “sgraffito (in Italian meaning to scratch) and is a technique produced by applying a drawing to hard red clay pottery piece and then scratching off parts of the layer to create contrasting images and patterns to reveal the clay color underneath. The tile is 8‘’ square and a simple design works best for this project. Spiller will fire the tile twice and return it to the participants. Richard Spiller has been a potter and a ceramic artist for 50 years and has taught in Europe\, Finland\, Latvia and Russia as well as universities in the US. \nCost: $30 per person. Checks should be payable to the Winona Arts Center and paid prior to the class.
