DESCRIPTION:Course Dates: January 29\, February 5 & February 19 (3 Week Course)\nCourse Time: 5:30pm – 7:30 pm\nCost: $150\nThis three week workshop is brought to us by Preston Lawing\, an award winning professor and collaborative printmaker who has worked and exhibited with numerous artists and printers for over forty years. \nPreston Lawing taught for 24 years at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota\, retiring in 2021 as Professor Emeritus in the department of Art and Design. His most recent Dry Point Etching workshop at the Winona Arts Center was well received by a capacity group of energetic\, creative students. \nThis workshop will introduce participants to the technique of Chine-Collé\, a Chinese paper collage method that enhances printmaking or painting\, adding texture and pattern to the surface. \nThe course will cover both the practical aspects of creating prints and the historical context of the medium. \nParticipants will learn how to prepare printing plates while working with a variety of glues and binders\, the importance of layering and overlaying paper textures\, how to use a variety of printing plates and matrices\, work safely in a printmaking studio\, and will develop an understanding of the significance of Chine-Collé in art history. \nParticipants do not need to have strong drawing skills\, but a willingness to explore different markmaking choices which should provide lifelong joy of this simple\, additive process. \nDue to the technical information and processes covered\, this course is suited for artists 18 and up. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $55 Members\, $60 Non-Members\nWinona Arts Center welcomes back Jane Bangsberg on March 22 from 12:30pm to 4:00pm for a class on Ukrainian Egg Decorating.  You will create beautiful heirloom eggs using a wax resist method very similar to batik. Students will leave class with finished eggs and all of the supplies needed to decorate more eggs at home.  Class size is limited so register today with Jen at jsbenson50@gmail.com. \nPayments are made to the Winona Arts Center and mailed/dropped off at 228 E 5th Street\, Winona\, MN 55987.
