DESCRIPTION:Namoli Brennet has been writing\, recording\, touring and releasing albums since the age of Napster. Country Queer called her 2020 release\, Light It Up\, “An uplifting shot of hope…that queers the sonic landscape.” A multi-instrumentalist with a degree in composition\, Brennet’s decades-long career has seen her morph from more traditional singer/songwriter fare into what one reviewer called a “sonic painter\,” creating rich\, ambient textures as a backdrop for often profound and poetic lyrics. Her music explores themes of belonging\, struggle and spirituality and paints a picture of an artist who’s spent their share of time looking for light in the darkness. Namoli has performed in most of the continental United States\, Canada\, Mexico\, Austria\, Switzerland and Germany; has been nominated for numerous Outmusic awards\, the German Music Critics award (twice) and was listed on the inaugural Trans 100 list. She’s also been featured on NPR and her music is featured in the Emmy-award-winning film Out In The Silence. DESCRIPTION:Richard Spiller is back at the Winona Arts Center! Register now for his Pinch Pot and Coil Pottery class on March 23 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Participants will make small vessels with balls of clay to form pinch pots using a hand-building method of forming pottery by building up walls with rope-like coils of clay. SUMMARY:Jean Luken Show Opening and Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:Jean Lukens is a Wisconsin native. She graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in Art History and a minor in Studio Art. \nShe moved to California in 1982. Jean was juried into 9 years of  self-guided studio tours\, sponsored by the Santa Cruz Cultural Council. \nShe returned to WI in 2008 and has had many gallery shows. Her work is collected locally\, nationally and internationally. \nFrom the artist: “I am a contemporary watercolor artist. My paintings are created with balanced harmony of color\, shape\, line and texture in mind. For me\, processing and creating a painting is exciting. As I bring an idea to the paper. Executing the mechanics of this process effortlessly.” \nArt Opening 1pm – 4pm. \nArtist Talk 3:00pm
