Open Print Studio is designed for those who are interested in printmaking or those that have art projects that they would like to work on. \nWAC has a fully equipped print studio known as Riverbed Press\, complete with a Conrad Etching Press with an approximate 22” x 44” press bed. No previous printmaking experience is necessary. Printmaking supplies (ink\, paper) and equipment will be available. \nIn addition to printmaking\, the Studio will be open for people to work on art projects such as watercolors\, drawing\, etc. Those participants will bring their own art supplies. \nStudio passes are $40 for 5 visits to the studio and can be purchased at the Open Studio. SUMMARY:Tile Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday / July 16 / 1:00-3:00 pm\nRichard Spiller\, a local potter from Wisconsin will present a tile- making workshop at the Winona Arts Center. The technique is called “sgraffito (in Italian meaning to scratch) and is a technique produced by applying a drawing to hard red clay pottery piece and then scratching off parts of the layer to create contrasting images and patterns to reveal the clay color underneath. The tile is 8‘’ square and a simple design works best for this project. Spiller will fire the tile twice and return it to the participants. Richard Spiller has been a potter and a ceramic artist for 50 years and has taught in Europe\, Finland\, Latvia and Russia as well as universities in the US. \nCost: $30 per person. Checks should be payable to the Winona Arts Center and paid prior to the class. Using small balls of clay\, the students will use their natural ability to seize and grasp to form small vessels. Spiller has been a potter and a ceramic artist for 50 years and has taught in Europe\, Finland\, Latvia and Russia as well as universities in the US. \nThe cost is $30 per person and payment is required prior to the class.
