As the frontwomen\, Miss Myra and Debbie Briggs deliver a one-of-a-kind musical performance featuring tight vocal harmonies and complimented by the swing guitar stylings of Miss Myra and the sweet fiddle sounds of Alissa Jacobsen (Mississippi Hot Club). Their rhythm section queen\, Beth Varela\, plays the part of bassist on a cello and somehow does percussion all at the same time! Their playful and complex arrangements draw from old blues\, hot club jazz\, western swing\, old country\, and the popular music of the 20s\, 30s\, and 40s. \nThe Good Time Gals was founded in late 2020 by Debbie Briggs (of Debbie Briggs Vintage Jazz) and Myra Burnette\, a.k.a. “Miss Myra” (of Miss Myra and the Moonshiners). Briggs and Burnette met in a speakeasy of all places back in 2019 and became fast friends bonding over their shared love of old jazz and all things vintage. They began inviting each other to sit in on their respective gigs and the project took off from there. The Good Time Gals was born! \nTickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Mary Lee Eischen\nIn this workshop\, we will create a collage of our hopes and dreams for this year of 2023. We’ll begin the workshop with a guided visualization to bring us into relaxation\, connect us with our body and stir our imaginations into making. We’ll have the opportunity to create our own images and designs with paper along with stitching. Images\, words and phrases will be available to use for our creating. The instructor will bring examples and provide a large board to add images along with other materials to guide the making for a fun afternoon of creating our visions for 2023. \nCost: $46 for WAC members and $51 for non-members. \nParticipants are welcome to bring magazines\, fabric\, newspapers\, or other repurposed materials and a favorite scissors. SUMMARY:Press Mold Classes with Richard Spiller
DESCRIPTION:Saturday / January 21\, 2023 / 11:00am-1:00pm AND\nSaturday / February 18\, 2023 / 11:00am-1:00pm\nStudents will use plastic molds to press a slab of earthenware red clay into the mold. The piece will then be bisque-fired at Spiller’s Art Studio. The second class will require the students to paint the designs on the clay molds and then they will be fired again with a clear glaze. These press molds could be hung in your garden\, on a fence or around your house. \nEach student will have a small mold and a large mold to work with and will be offered a variety of designs to choose from.
