DESCRIPTION:Paintings and Ceramics\nMay 14 to June 24\, 2023 \nExhibit Opening: Sunday / May 21 / 2:00-5:00pm\n3:00pm / Shared Stories about Jean and her creativity\n3:30-5:00pm / Potluck Celebration\nJean loved color. It permeated all of her life. Even when she encountered numbers\, she also saw their color. When asked what she would have done if she hadn’t pursued a career in Early Childhood Education\, she said “I would have been an artist.” She spent years playing with clay\, both on the wheel and by hand\, developing quite a colorful\, unique style in majolica. Her favorite medium became watercolor. It challenged her and provided lots of satisfaction. Even after her stroke in 2018\, when she lost many abilities\, she continued with her painting. It was a real testament to the power of creativity. It brought her and those around her much joy and enhanced her quality of life. May her love of color touch your heart\, too. \nThe family of Jean Billman is generously donating the proceeds from the sales of her works to the Winona Arts Center.

SUMMARY:Sgraffito Tile Workshop with Richard Spiller
DESCRIPTION:Saturday / August 19 / 12:00-3:00pm\nRichard Spiller\, a local potter from Wisconsin\, will present a Sgraffito tile workshop on August 19 from noon to 3 pm. Sgraffito (in Italian\, meaning “to scratch”) is a technique produced by applying a drawing to a hard\, red clay pottery piece and then scratching off parts of the layer to create contrasting images and patterns to reveal the clay color underneath. The tile is 8″ square and a simple design works best for this project. Students can bring their own drawings or use those provided. The tiles will be fired at Spiller’s studio and returned to participants at a later date. \nCost is $30 for members of WAC and $35 for non-members. DESCRIPTION:Friday / August 25 / 1:00-4:00pm OR Saturday / August 26 / 1:00-4:00pm\n\nPink coneflowers\, also known as echinacea\, will be the subject for our next watercolor class with Faye Schoen at the Winona Arts Center on August 25th OR August 26th from 1:00-4:00pm. \nAll materials\, patterns and instruction are included. A light snack\, coffee or tea will be provided at no charge. For the past forty-plus years\, Johnsmith has been sharing his music all across America and abroad. He has become a favorite at festivals\, clubs\, and house concerts alike. In addition to being a Kerrville New Folk Winner\, Johnsmith has released nine solo CDs to rave reviews\, leads musical tours to Ireland\, leads Idaho rafting trips\, teaches songwriting\, and has served as a staff songwriter in Nashville. \nDan Sebranek is a renowned singer\, songwriter and musician who started his musical career at the age of 14 with musical roots in bluegrass and rock and roll. He has shared the stage with Michael Martin Murphey\, Hans Mayer\, Bill Miller\, John Prine\, Perry Jordan (Heartsfield) along with Pure Prairie League. Currently Dan is performing solo acoustic music around the world. He performs each year in Ireland bringing the gifts of music and song across the sea (Enchanted Way Tours). He is inspired by Dan Fogelberg\, James Taylor and Bryan Sutton with positive responses from audiences across the country who enjoy Dan’s musical versatility. \nMusic starts at 7:00pm and the coffeehouse and gallery open at 6:00pm.
