Together\, they turn back in time to dust off the rare and forgotten tunes or to hone the familiar\, tried and true melodies with the aim of carrying them forward to share with audiences of today. DESCRIPTION:Sunday / November 9\, 2025 / 2:00PM – 4:00PM\nSteve Schild will read from his new poetry chapbook at 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Winona Arts Center. The reading is free and open to the public. After the reading\, there will be a Q & A and an informal discussion with coffee & treats. \nSchild\, a longtime Winona resident who now lives in Falcon Heights\, self-published Invocation\, which is about nature and stages of life\, with an emphasis on getting older. \nA Saint Mary’s University emeritus professor\, Schild has three previous poetry collections: Eros in Autumn and These Humans\, both published by Shipwreckt Books Publishing Company\, and Gone Away from Crystal Valley\, which was self-published. Eros in Autumn won a silver medal from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association. \nSchild’s poetry has also won awards from the League of Minnesota Poets\, Viterbo University\, and Winona State University. His work has also appeared in anthologies and a number of literary magazines. \nCopies of Invocation will be available for a $10 donation to Winona Arts Center.

Adults aged 18+. \nThis upcoming three-week workshop with Preston Lawing will open the door to a simple\, amazing process of using linoleum to carve and print beautiful images. These prints require minimal tools and can be produced at home or while traveling\, helping you to get out of the studio and exploring your world. \nThis workshop will introduce artists\, from beginners to advanced\, to the technique of carving into a soft linoleum block and developing a variety of lines and tones\, shadows and contrast\, as well as highlighting the student’s own unique artistic style. Participants do not need to have strong drawing skills\, but a willingness to explore different marking choices. Due to the technical information and processes covered\, this course is suited for artists 18 and up.

DESCRIPTION:Beginning October 2025 Open Studio will be held the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 4:30pm – 8:00pm!\n\n\n\nThe Open Studio is designed for those who are interested in printmaking and for those who need space to work on their own art projects. Your first visit is free of charge!\n\n\n\nAfter Your First Visit:\no Drop-in Fee: $8 per visit\no Studio Pass: $35 for 5 visits\no No fee for participants who bring their own art supplies\n\n\n\nSpace will be limited to 12 people per Thursday so please make your reservation ahead of time.\n\n\n\nFor more information and to register please contact Jen at jsbenson@gmail.com

DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Linda Sue Eastman \nM–W–F / NOVEMBER 17\, 19 & 21 / 1:00PM – 4:00PM \nCost: $60. Minimum class size 4. \nThis workshop takes place over three afternoons and is for those with some knitting experience. This workshop is for making your own knit fish inspired by the fish shown at Linda Sue’s exhibit of Farfetched Fish at the Winona Arts Center. You will take away your own creative fish at the end of the 3rd Class. \nBring your own collection of yarn and needles. Patterns\, guides and inspiration will be provided! You can start your creative thoughts by first visiting the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm and/or by attending the Open House and talk on October 26.
