SUMMARY:The Everett Smithson Band
DESCRIPTION:Saturday / October 18 / 7:00pm\n$20 (+processing fees) in Advance / $25 at the Door\nTickets will be available at Music Mart (formerly Hardt’s Music) and Eventbrite until October 18 at 4:00pm. Note: Music Mart now accepts credit cards and checks made out to Music Mart.\nCoffeehouse & gallery open at 6:00pm. Cash bar for wine & beer.\nPerformance at 7:00pm\nThe band was formed in 2005 and included Everett Smithson on harp and vocals\, Phil Schmid on guitar\, Jeremy Johnson on drums and Bill Black on stand up bass. The sidemen had played together for a long time and had toured with Big George Jackson\, Gary Primich\, RJ Mischo\, Kim Wilson\, Bo Diddley\, the Senders and many others.  They could lay down some tasteful grooves and their red hot instrumentals were always a crowd pleaser! \nIn 2006 Everett’s wife Kathy Smithson hopped on board with her accordions and added a creole sound while mixing it up with tunes by Wanda Jackson\, Lavern Baker\, Memphis Minnie and the list goes on. In 2018 Milwaukee native Victor Span – alumni of Bryan Lee\, Nick Moss\, Reverend Raven\, among many others – added his talents on drums and Jeremy Johnson added his guitar skills to bring the band where they are today! Everett\, Phil and Kathleen have added many originals to the set list over the years\, which can be heard on any of their five CDs\, including 2018s “Tall Tales”. \nThis performance is made possible in part thanks to the generous support of Merchants Bank\, Dahl Auto\, and Affinity Plus.

SUMMARY:LVDY in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Saturday / November 1 / 7:00pm\n$20 (+processing fees) in Advance / $25 at the Door\nTickets will be available at Music Mart (formerly Hardt’s Music) and Eventbrite until November 1 at 4:00pm. Note: Music Mart now accepts credit cards and checks made out to Music Mart.\nCoffeehouse & gallery open at 6:00pm. Cash bar for wine & beer.\nPerformance at 7:00pm\nLVDY (pronounced LADY) is a Colorado-based duo consisting of Kathleen Hooper and Aubrey Mable. Known for their uplifting sound and intimate storytelling\, LVDY blends singer-songwriter sensibilities with indie-folk melodies\, delivering powerful harmonies and lyrics that resonate deeply. Their music is a heartfelt reminder that we’re not alone\, weaving love anthems with simple yet significant messages of hope and connection. Inspired by the natural beauty of the outdoors and influences such as Maggie Rogers\, Rising Appalachia\, and Trevor Hall\, their ethereal harmonies and meaningful lyrics invite listeners into a world of warmth and vulnerability. \nThe Denver-based duo of Kathleen Hooper and Aubrey Mable\, known as LVDY\, drenched the Knockout Stage in joyful exuberance on Friday. UMS is the first festival for the duo\, and their stage presence is palpable. With an inherent ability to engage and interact with the crowd\, LVDY surely added a few more fans to their “LVDY mob” through Hooper’s powerful vocals\, Mable’s soulful guitar playing and the sheer honesty and positivity of their lyrics. A light rain only added to the dreamy vibe of the set as the duo played a mix of original tracks from their recent EP as well as a cover of Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” intertwined with the hymn “Ave Maria\,” and an unreleased track focused on cultivating gratitude despite the hardships of life. Their set seemed to further solidify their rising star status in the local music scene and spread awareness for the overwhelmingly uplifting message that is LVDY. — Chloe Dore\, 303 Magazine \nIt didn’t take long for Denver’s LVDY to cut through the noise and burst onto the music scene in a major way. Shepherding a folksy yet soulful sound into Denver’s collective conscious\, Aubrey Mable and Kathleen Hooper have amassed tens of thousands of streams and sold out their first headlining gig at Lost Lake with a mere two songs to their name. Mable\, the gritty DIY backbone of the group\, lives in direct contrast to Hooper’s elegance and theatrical presence\, but together\, despite how different they may seem\, when they come together as LVDY\, its nothing short of amazing. LVDY is an acoustic/electric duo who wears their gender as a beacon of empowerment\, hence the “V” in their name\, and if their early successes are any indication\, the future is female. Catching up with the women of LVDY for their miraculous first interview ever\, at a “girl-power” themed Sofar Sounds event\, we talked about their backstory\, living and busking in New Zealand and how 2018 changed everything for them. — 303 Magazine \nwww.lvdymusic.com \nThis performance is made possible in part thanks to the generous support of Merchants Bank\, Dahl Auto\, and Affinity Plus.
