We begin with a guided meditation to connect with your Spirit: Who is she? What does she represent? \nYour Spirit Doll’s limbs and body will be crafted from beautiful tree branches gathered in the Driftless Area. Her form can be shaped with fiber\, fabric\, or a combination of both. Molded faces will be available to paint\, or you may choose from pre-painted air-dried clay faces. Finish her with flowing fiber hair and adornments that reflect her essence. Celebrate cozy winter with the meditative process of Suminagashi\, or ink floating\, a Japanese paper marbling art at least as old as the 12th century. You’ll float ink in dynamic patterns on water and print unique images on your choice of surfaces\, including notecards\, coasters\, and specialty papers. \nWhether a beginner or practitioner\, you’ll expand your skills by experimenting with new effects and materials and leave with works you can enjoy as-is or use for bookmaking\, painting\, drawing\, and more. Also included will be a take-home supply of protective finish to apply to the coasters once they dry. \nClass is $45 for members and $50 for non-members\, ages 12 and up. No experience necessary. Multiple colors can be added using brushes or stencils before adding the final paint layer and pulling highly stylized and textural prints.
